Partner of the concert:

The dramaturgy of the concert of the chamber ensemble Konvergence is built on the premieres of five works by contemporary Czech composers of three generations.

This time, the convergence (...Konvergence...) is appreciable more in terms of subject matter than stylistic affinity. The works are mostly a modest, quiet testimony or reaction to something that the composer deems as important or rare. Sometimes, it is a noticeable tie to the recent past and its important, neglected moments (Zemek’s 3rd Clarinet Quartet, dedicated to the memory of Evžen Plocek, the third of the “human torches” of the year 1969, or Kopelent’s I Believe... based on texts by prisoners forced to work in the mines of Jáchymov). In other cases, what is involved is more of a parable of one’s own spiritual convictions (Graham’s Viola Walk), a neutral and therefore open space for the listener’s own participation and interpretation (Pálka’s Shadowing on the nuances of his own faith) or the human ability to listen (my 7 / Whispers, room for quiet, little, mute gestures – the very ones we use to say the most important things).
